“A little bit of country at the StanCo Fair!”

“David Lee Murphy”

July 5, 2024

Turlock, CA (May 18, 2024) – David Lee Murphy, the acclaimed country music star known for his chart-topping hits and energetic performances, is set to headline on the Modelo Free Variety Stage!  Renowned for his unique blend of traditional country with modern edge. The concert series is presented by Black Oak Casino and Resort. David Lee Murphy is sponsored by Barrios Realty Consultants.

“Grab your boots and cowboy hats! Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of country music’s finest talents live in concert at the Stanislaus County Fair!” said Jose Piña, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair.

David Lee Murphy is best recognized by his massive hit singles “Dust On The Bottle”, “Party

Crowd” and “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” (a duet with Kenny Chesney). But he is also

known as one of Country Music’s best and most prolific songwriters. He has written songs for

superstar artists like Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Florida Georgia

Line, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Hank Williams, Jr. and others.

Murphy developed his musical style as a teenager in Southern Illinois. Although both parents

were schoolteachers, he was an indifferent student. Instead of studying books, he studied the

sounds of such “outlaw” country musicians as Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. He was also

deeply influenced by southern rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers and

ZZ Top.

Pursuing a career in music, Murphy moved to Nashville and spent years honing his craft as a

songwriter. He also formed a band, The Blue Tick Hounds, and played the honkytonks of Middle

Tennessee and clubs throughout the South.

“I really concentrated on my songwriting”, Murphy states. “I wanted to get better so I could

record my own songs.” Several rough demos of Murphy’s compositions, including the song

“Party Crowd” caught the attention of MCA executive Renee Bell who passed Murphy’s music

along to Grammy and CMA Award winning producer Tony Brown (George Strait, Reba

McEntire, Vince Gill and others). After hearing the song demos, Brown, who had been following

Murphy’s progress as a performer and songwriter, decided it was time to sign Murphy as an

artist to MCA Records.

Murphy’s debut platinum selling album for the label, Out With A Bang, produced a string of hits

including the title track “Out With A Bang”, “Fish Ain’t Bitin’” and “Just Once”, which was

featured in the movie 8 Seconds about bull rider Lane Frost. Also on that album were the hit

singles “Party Crowd” (Radio & Records awarded it most played song on Country Radio in

1995) and the #1 single “Dust On The Bottle”. Both songs have become staples at Country

Radio.

Murphy’s follow-up album Gettin’ Out The Good Stuff spawned the hit singles

“Every Time I Get Around You”, “The Road You Leave Behind”, “Breakfast In Birmingham” and

the cult classic “Genuine Rednecks”.

Murphy went onto record two more albums. We Can’t All Be Angels produced the hit single, “All

Lit Up In Love” and “We Can’t All Be Angels” that was featured in the Patrick Swayze movie

Blackdog. Murphy’s album Tryin’ To Get There (the title track he wrote with friend and musical

hero Waylon Jennings) produced the Top 5 single “Loco”.

“GET READY FOR A COUNTRY MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA”

“LONESTAR”

July 9, 2024

Turlock, CA (May 17, 2024) – Get ready for a night of foot-stomping, heart-pounding country music as multi-platinum selling band “Lonestar” takes the Modelo Free Variety Stage during the Stanislaus County Fair. With a string of chart-topping hits and a reputation for amazing live performances, Lonestar promises to deliver a extravagant night of entertainment for fairgoers of all ages. Concert Series is presented by Black Oak Casino and Resort, and Lonestar is sponsored by McHenry Bowl.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lonestar to the Stanislaus County Fair,” said Jose Piña, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “Their music has a timeless appeal that resonates with audiences of all ages, and we know they will put on a fantastic show that our fairgoers will love.”

Not every musician has the opportunity to revisit and even potentially improve upon their biggest hits. But on the forthcoming TEN to 1 record, the award-winning band Lonestar—

Dean Sams (keyboards, acoustic guitar, background vocals), Michael Britt (lead guitarist,

background vocals ), Keech Rainwater (drums) and Drew Womack (lead vocals, guitar)—are

taking a fresh look at all 10 of their chart-topping country songs.

This streak started in 1996 with the band’s second single, the rock-edged “No News,”

and continued with the following year’s “Come Cryin’ to Me” and “Everything’s Changed.” The band’s quadruple-platinum 1999 album Lonely Grill spawned four No. 1 hits (including the beloved global smash “Amazed”) and established Lonestar as music’s preeminent pop-country band—a status they’d maintain through the 2000s and beyond.

With these re-recordings, the band members were mindful of striking a balance between preserving the sonic elements fans were familiar with—and not repeating them. Fittingly, TEN to 1 record reflects the ways Lonestar’s hits have evolved over the years during the band’s rousing, high-energy concerts. Such talent has contributed to the band winning many of music’s top honors, including Academy Of Country Music awards for New Vocal Group in 1996, Single and Song Of The Year in 2000, along with Humanitarian Of The Year in 2002. They also won Country Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year and International Artist Achievement award in 2001. All told, Lonestar have sold more than 10.5 million records since their formation.

With the release of TEN to 1 record, the band members are full of gratitude for what they’ve accomplished already, and excited about what the future holds. “It’s amazing that we’re still standing and putting on great shows after all these years,” Sams says. “The fans are still coming out to our shows night after night, to see us and hear our music. That’s almost 30 years of touring, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am—and I’ve never once taken it for granted.”

With their signature blend of gritty guitar riffs, powerhouse vocals, and timeless hits.  Join us as we celebrate the enduring legacy of rock “n” roll with 38 Special at the Stanislaus County Fair!

“38 Special’s Iconic sound and high-energy performances never fail to captivate audiences. Their upcoming performance at the Stanislaus County Fair will be a true rock fan experience. Get ready to rock out with 38 Special!” said Jose Piña, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair.

After more than four decades, 38 SPECIAL continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year. At each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band’s performance.

Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Guitarist/vocalist DON BARNES says it’s all about maintaining that intensity in their live shows. “We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years. We’re a team, and it’s always been kind of an unspoken rule that we don’t slack up, we stack up. We go out there every night to win.”

Completing the team is bassist BARRY DUNAWAY, drummer GARY MOFFATT and keyboardist/vocalist BOBBY CAPPS. The most recent addition to the band is legendary virtuoso guitarist and vocalist JERRY RIGGS.

For 38 Special onstage, it is a celebration of camaraderie and brotherhood, a precision unit bringing the dedication and honesty to a long history of classic songs, as well as surprisingly fresh new material. Since 1976, the band has released more than 15 albums. And from the start, they’ve toured relentlessly, bringing their signature brand of ‘muscle and melody’ to fans worldwide.

It is that steely determination that lives on in the hearts of these ‘Wild-Eyed Southern Boys. ‘Barnes adds, “This music keeps our wheels on the road. We’re a band that’s tried to stay honest with what has driven us over the years. We started out with nothing but bold determination to make our own history and to endure. Looking back now, it has been our greatest pride to have persevered and attained that level of success and longevity. For us, it’s the ultimate validation.”

“The magic’s still there,” adds Barnes. “It’s an emotional high for us to keep ‘bringing it’ after all these years. When those lights go down and we all walk up those steps to the stage and hear that crowd roar, it’s a real rush to the head. It feels like we’re getting ready to strap ourselves in and it just takes off from there.”
