City of Turlock & Stancofair Board team up for free bus rides during Fair

Turlock, CA (June 28, 2018) – The City of Turlock officials have approved free bus rides on Turlock Transit from July 9-22, 2018, to include the run of the Stanislaus County Fair.

Turlock Transit will allow all routes to be free of charge to patrons riding their busses during the run of the Fair.  Bus Route 2, as highlighted in the map provided, will run an additional bus and pick up from CSU Stanislaus on Monte Vista Ave with pickup times being every 15 minutes from that route.  Route 2 will also run through midnight when the Fair closes, as well as during Fair hours on Sundays. The closest drop-off to the Fair with Route 2 will be on Fulkerth Rd. at N. Soderquist Rd.  There are additional drop-off locations close to the Fairgrounds, as shown on the map. Stanislaus State is also providing free parking in parking lot 2 (see map) for guests using the Monte Vista Ave pick up.

“The city is proud to be home of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds,” said Gary Soiseth, City of Turlock Mayor. “This new partnership for transportation will be the right welcome to all visitors that come to our great city to enjoy the fair and it will demonstrate the great bus services we have to offer.”

Turlock, CA (June 5, 2018) – With today’s voting and if Prop 68 passes, Governor Brown will include $3.6 million for Fairgrounds.
In 2010, Governor Jerry Brown’s department of finance recommended that $32 million of all the California county fairs’ funding be eliminated. In 2011, the proposed elimination of funding went on to reduce the income stream and job creation by about 30 percent, resulting in a net loss to the state. This put many California fairs at risk of closure. Seven years later, such fairgrounds continue to serve their communities – however, their continued operation has forced the ridding of crucial maintenance to existing structures. With the help of Prop 68, this can be resolved.
Prop 68, a Parks, Environment, and Water Bond, which will provide California’s network of fairgrounds with $18 million in support for facility improvements. The Prop will represent a $4.1 billion investment in outdoor recreation, land conservation and water projects.
