Turlock-After leading
this Stanislaus County Fair board for the past year,
Ray Souza has turned the gavel over incoming President
Tom Hallinan.
On
Monday evening, October 28, the gavel was
officially passed to Tom Hallinan, ending a one-year
term as board president for Ray Souza. “It was a
fun year,” Souza said. “I know that our team
accomplished great things. That was evident when Modesto
Bee readers voted the Stanislaus County Fair as
the ‘Best All Around Event’ for 2002.”
President Tom
Hallinan is a City/Special District Attorney for the
communities of Newman, Oakdale, Riverbank, Livingston,
Atwater, Jamestown, Groveland, Denair and Grayson. He
previously worked as a Criminal Prosecutor in the
United States Department of Justice. He was elected to
the Yosemite Community College Board in 1996 and is
serving his second term as a College Trustee.
Outgoing President
Ray Souza is the owner and operator of Mel-Delin
Dairy. In addition to his service to the Stanislaus
County Fair, Souza is also a member of the Stanislaus
County Planning Commission. Souza is past president of
the State Board of Directors of the Western United
Dairymen, and a former member of the California Beef
Council. He has also served on the California Beef
Council Consumer Education and Research Committee.
“The Stanislaus
County Fair has truly benefited from the dedication of
President Souza,” said Tony Leo, chief executive
officer of the Stanislaus County Fair. “We have also
benefited from the contributions Director Hallinan has
brought to the board. His commitment to the Stanislaus
County Fair will make him an excellent board
president.”
The mission of the
Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a family and
community oriented experience promoting agriculture,
education, entertainment and technology. The 2003 fair
is slated for July 25 through August 3-“The Place to
