Hughson
father passes Stanislaus County Fair tradition on to
his sons
Turlock
–As the Stanislaus County Fair exhibit deadline
approaches, three of the hundreds of exhibitors
guaranteed to enter is John
Lundell and his two sons.
The
Fair has more than rides, shows and great food and Hughson
resident John Lundell and his sons are
testimony to that!
Lundell
first exhibited at the Stanislaus County Fair when he
was a youngster—35 years ago to be exact.
Decades later, this father of two still makes
it a tradition to exhibit.
However, he is now joined in the fun with his
two sons--Scott, age 10 and James, age 7. Scott and
James started exhibiting at the Stanislaus County Fair
as “tiny tots,” a division for exhibitors who are
pre-kindergarten age.
The
Lundells will exhibit home grown peaches, their zinnia
flowers, and their favorite homemade cookies!
The
Stanislaus County Fair offers opportunities for those
pre-kindergarten to senior citizens to exhibit their
talents in areas of livestock, horticulture,
floriculture, fine arts, crafts, photography and home
arts. Participants,
like the Lundell family, are eligible to win cash
prizes, ribbons and even sponsored gifts.
Lundell
encourages more competitors to join in the family fun.
“It’s a lot of fun,” shared Lundell.
“And, it makes attending the fair more fun by
getting involved.
And, my sons love going to see their winnings
on display.”
