Stanislaus County
Fair concludes 10-day run
Turlock—The livestock barns are empty, the garbage dumpsters are full.
There are lines of concession stands on wheels
at the exit gates, but the entrances are vacant.
The Stanislaus County Fair has concluded a
successful 10-day run.
Attendance
at the 2002 fair was the highest in 10 years, with
*226,509 guests visiting the Stanislaus County Fair.
“Many factors contribute to fair
attendance,” shared Tony Leo, chief executive
officer of the Stanislaus County Fair.
“We had 10 days of non-stop entertainment in
the arena and on the free stage and incredible
weather.”
”Three
of the Food Maxx arena events were a complete sell
out,” shared Leo. “The Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, the
Destruction Derby and the motocross competition.”
But
Leo cautions that fair officials and the fair board
measure the success of the Stanislaus County Fair on
more than just the attendance figures. “Our fair board measures our success based on input from
our guests. When
our guests are happy we know we have succeeded and our
guests were happy,” shared Leo.
Plans are
already underway for the 2003 fair, which will open on
Friday, July 25 and run through August 3, 2003.
The
mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a
family and community oriented experience promoting
agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
*Attendance
