Morning Presentations

Check In – 7:00 to 7:50 Continental Breakfast

Welcome & Overview – 7:50 to 8:00 – Alvin Lal, Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources & Todd Seely, E&J Gallo Winery – Event Co-Chairmen

Health & Physiology of Hazardous Chemicals – 8:00 to 8:50 – Randy Jones, RW Jones & Associates – The focus is to understand the relationship of the health & physiology effects when team members are exposed to hazardous materials. The toxicology, routes of exposure, does rate levels, SDS sheets and the effects of an acute and chronic exposure information will be presented.

Emergency Response & Enhanced Action Plans for 2020 – 8:50 to 9:40 – Gary Smith, ASTI – On November 6th we will train on how to engage the new Cal-OSHA required enhancements to the Emergency Action Plan (EAP). On November 7th we will present the key points to successfully achieving the EAP enhancements.
Platinum sponsors have the opportunity to send attendees to the training on November 6th.

Workshop A Focus on Management

Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS)  – 10:10 to 11:00 – Paul Fields, Dept. of Homeland Security – Chemical security is a shared responsibility amongst government and private stakeholders. Learn more about chemical security regulations and the resources available to help keep your chemicals secure.

Cal ARP Program Description and Common Violations – 11:00 to 11:50 – Vicki Jones, Merced County EH – This presentation will discuss the different CalARP programs and basic requirements. Also, examples of common of violations found during a CalARP inspection will be highlighted, along with any program updates.

Workshop B Focus on Operators

Operators Challenge – 10:10 to 11:00 – Russ Ramos, Air Treatment Corp. – An interactive presentation that can be used to learn (or to teach) your refrigeration system to others.

Electric Valves Classroom Demo – 11:00 to 11:50 – Gordon Brandt, Cal CA – See the latest valve technology being utilized in our industry.

Workshop C Focus on Emergency Response

Emergency Decontamination Techniques – 10:10 to 11:00 – Stanislaus County HazMat & Modesto Fire Dept. – We hope to share some of the lessons learned with decontaminating a subject who is unconscious. We also want to show some of the tools that we carry to help aid us in this process.

Local Bomb Squad Specialist – 11:00 to 11:50 – Stanislaus County HazMat & Modesto Fire Dept. – In this class, we will be emphasizing the importance of quality chest compressions and how, when CPR is started early, it can dramatically aid in saving someone’s life.

Workshop D Sanitation Chemicals  

DPR – The Label is the Law – 10:10 to 11:00 – Lucy Graham, Dept. of Pesticide Regulation – Pesticides are chemicals or substances used to prevent, destroy, repel or mitigate any pest. Illness or injury may occur from improper use or lack of training. The label is the law!

Food Safety 101 Cleaning, Sanitizing and Verification Activities – 11:00 to 11:50 – Joe Rumore, E & J Gallo Winery – Overview of Chemical Sanitation Practices/Micro Biological Control in Designated Critical Production Areas.

11:50 – 12:45 Lunch – Catered Lunch Will Be Served

12:45 – 2:00  Fruit & Nut Bowl

AFTERNOON SESSIONS IN THE MAIN AUDITORIUM

Facility Challenge for ALL – 2:00 to 2:45 – Russ Ramos, Air Treatment Corp. – This challenge can be used to demonstrate an understanding of “an overview of the covered process” that is required by regulation.

Cal OES HazMat – 2:45 to 3:15 – Chief Chuck Tobias, Cal OES – Cal OES recognized a number of significant gaps in HazMat Team response times exceeding two hours. To address the issue, Cal OES has purchased and equipped 12 Type II Hazardous Materials Response Vehicles, two of the vehicles are assigned to local government fire departments in each of California’s six Mutual Aid Regions.

Quick Break – 3:15 to 3:25

Respirator Wrestle  – 3:25 to 4:15 – A panel discussion about how facilities are implementing new procedures to address the changes in IIAR & Cal OSHA’s Codes and Standards.
